Katelyn LaPage is an artist and creator. Born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, she draws inspiration from the dichotomous ancient desert landscapes and the modernity of the technological age in which she grew up. This juxtaposition of place, physically, temporally, and culturally adds to her artistic metaphor. Finding herself at a crossroads in her formative years, LaPage uses culture, identity, and self-expression; themes of private/public, inside/outside, and personal/exclusive in her photography, graphic art, and installation/sculpture design. Creating spaces and visual representations that reflect inner turmoil and contradiction allow her to communicate the relationship between mental state and physical being in an effort to create a sense of belongingness that we all so desperately search for.
